Where is it? Poitou-Charentes is situated in central western France and comprises of four departments: Charente, Charente-Maritime, Deux-Sèvres and Vienne.

What’s the attraction? The different departments of Poitou-Charentes are rich in culture and history, evident in their historical sites and unique character.
Charente-Maritime has a rich heritage with its towns and villages asserting charm, beauty and the fecund history of the department. Popular tourist destinations in Charente-Maritime include La Rochelle, Royan, Saintes, St Jean d'Angely and Rochefort.
The Charente department, named after the Charente River, is home to Cognac and the French aperitif, Pineau – the department’s major agricultural products.
There are many activities to be enjoyed in Deux-Sèvres, such as cycling, rambling and golfing. Some of Europe’s most impressive Tumuli and Romanesque churches, châteaux and museums can be found here, along with stunning rivers, lakes, forests and historic towns.
